One of the most popular sightseeing routes in Hong Kong is a trip around Victoria Harbour, which separates Hong Kong Island itself from the Kowloon Peninsula. Regular service between the shores by ferry was first provided by the Star Ferry company back in 1888.
Despite the fact that more modern means of transportation between the shores have long since been established, ferry service remains extremely popular among residents: first, because of the relatively low cost of tickets, and second, because of the calm atmosphere of traveling on the water, when there is no noise or bustle of the lively city around.
Today, the Star Ferry company serves up to 70 thousand people daily, and its fleet consists of twelve ferries. In addition to standard routes, there are special tourist ferries that recreate ships from the early 20th century. Moreover, one of the operating ferries is the Morning Star, launched in 1888 - the very first ferry in Hong Kong.
The Shining Star offers a one-hour cruise around Victoria Harbour, during which you will see almost the entire coastline, enjoy a leisurely sea trip, a refreshing breeze, and wonderful scenery.
