Tilgner Fountain is located in Vienna in Volksgarten Park, also known as the People's Garden. At the center of the fountain is the sculptural composition "Faun and Nymph", which is also often referred to as "Triton and Nymph".
The author of the fountain is the Austrian sculptor Viktor Tilgner. He was educated at the prestigious Vienna Academy of Fine Arts, spent some time in Italy, returned to Vienna, where he lived and worked until his death. A distinctive feature of almost all his works is the precise reproduction of the individual traits and characteristics of the figures depicted. He knew how to give the figures picturesque yet, at the same time, very natural poses.
On a fine sunny day, drop by the People's Garden. It is pleasant to rest on a bench by the fountain after tiring walks, watching ducks charmingly splashing in the water... With reeds and water lilies, Tilgner Fountain looks a little abandoned. But most likely, this is a deliberate effect that gives this place an atmosphere of seclusion and tranquility.
