The Brouwerij ’t IJ brewery in Amsterdam is located opposite the old windmill Molen de Gooyer. It was originally opened in 1983 in a small building on the bank of the IJ river — that is exactly what the two mysterious letters IJ in its name stand for. But two years later the brewery moved into the once-abandoned public bathhouse Funenmolen next to the old windmill.
The workers of this small brewery are rightfully proud that they produce delicious traditional beer according to old recipes. The brewery often organizes tours for groups of 15-30 people. At the end of the visit, guests are обязательно treated to beer: one glass is included in the price.
It is best to come here on Friday, as this day already puts you in the mood to relax, and, surprisingly, the brewery has the fewest tourists then.
If you come here on your own, without a tour, you will be able to try numerous unfiltered beers, although the selection usually depends on the season. By the way, here you can not only drink, but also eat: the Dutch cheese with fried sausages at Brouwerij ’t IJ is especially good.
