This restaurant is already more than 40 years old; it was founded in 1970. Its owner, Isidr Girones, named it, as you can now easily guess, after himself. Back then, together with his wife, they opened this small establishment in the center of Barcelona. And 20 years later, the reins passed to their daughter, who now not only runs the restaurant business but also prepares excellent desserts. Her creations amaze not only with their taste, but also with their originality of execution. In decorating the desserts, she uses the thinnest foil made of pure gold, which is completely edible, although it has no taste at all.
Today, Ca L'Isidre Restaurant is one of the most popular places among politicians, businessmen, and world celebrities. Moreover, King of Spain Juan Carlos I himself prefers to dine here when he comes to Barcelona. The restaurant owners first felt the favor of the royal family in 1986, when on May 14 the King and Queen of Spain arrived on an official visit to Catalonia and celebrated the 23rd wedding anniversary right at “Ca L'Isidre”.
The choice of dishes in this restaurant is truly royal: beans cooked with squid and mint, royal sea cucumbers, delicious ravioli with foie gras and truffles soaked in port wine, pork knuckle stuffed with truffles and onions, foie gras with bitter orange sauce, and much, much more. The “Ca L'Isidre” wine list alone includes more than 400 labels.
