Barcelona Photo Archive is a true photography museum! Its collection numbers two million photographs, both amateur and professional. The photos kept here vividly depict the life of the city and its inhabitants from 1839 to the present day.
The archive occupies a building that previously housed the Monastery of Saint Augustine. It is important to note that its collection is by no means in a "preserved" state - it continues to grow, constantly being replenished with new items. Anyone can bring their works here - both ordinary city residents and various government organizations, enterprises, and communities.
To make it easier for archive visitors to get acquainted with the history of Barcelona, thematic exhibitions are regularly held here, dedicated to particular events, city districts, and its famous residents.
