The Madrid Wax Museum, which opened in 1972, is located in a monumental building from the century before last and covers an area of 2000 square meters. Today, the museum features figures of both Hollywood stars and outstanding Spaniards. In total, more than 360 exhibits of figures from the worlds of culture, politics, and sport are gathered here.
It is impossible not to note the precision with which these wax figures were created. Many of the items displayed on the celebrity figures once belonged to their famous prototypes. For example, cyclist Miguel Indurain gave the museum a copy of his bicycle and the jersey in which he won five Tour de France races. And in the hall dedicated to the fatal blonde Marilyn Monroe, there is a vase from her memorial at Westwood Cemetery.
The figure of the torero Manuel Rodriguez, who is depicted at the moment of his death on the horns of an enraged bull, is especially popular with adults. Children, meanwhile, prefer the characters of Harry Potter, Bart Simpson, and the exhibition "Fantastic Journey," where through the portholes of the submarine "Nautilus" you can see the tentacles of a giant octopus.
