Museum «Щурово Городище» offers the opportunity to explore the history and everyday life of Ancient Rus' not through dusty exhibits, but “live,” immersing yourself in the atmosphere of the past. The museum is located on the grounds of the hotel and tourist complex «Горячие ключи».
The basis for the exhibits was the set built for the filming of Pavel Lungin's movie «Царь». The total area of the museum is one hectare; here you can see various buildings, both residential and хозяйственные. Log huts, dugouts, a forge, barns, and other structures look extremely authentic and realistic.
But it does not end with architectural objects: on the grounds of the complex there are garden beds where potatoes, cucumbers, tomatoes, greens, and other agricultural crops are grown. There is also a farmstead here where domestic animals roam. Everyone is invited to sample dishes and drinks made from natural products. If you wish, you can try digging a garden bed or baking bread in a clay oven with your own hands.
For future warriors, an “Old Russian” shooting range has been organized, where you can practice archery, and nearby visitors are taught the art of handling a spear and sword.
Щурово Городище is an excellent place to get acquainted with the traditions and everyday life of our ancestors, literally to touch the culture of Ancient Rus'.
