The church dedicated to the Iveron Icon of the Mother of God appeared in the city of Peresvet in the Sergiyevo-Posadsky District quite recently — in 2005. Before that, in 2000, the local community, back when it was still the settlement of Novostroyka rather than the city of Peresvet, submitted a petition to the Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius, asking for a metochion of the holy monastery to be opened there. The request was approved.
Initially, services were held in various premises adapted for this purpose. Construction of the church began in 2003, and just two years later the parishioners had their own building for prayer.
The church in Peresvet looks very interesting - it is a completely wooden structure, small and cozy. In addition to the church itself, there is a refectory and a bell tower here. They are crowned with tented roofs with gilded domes and crosses.
The community of believers of the metochion carries out active educational and charitable work, organizing children's celebrations and helping the needy and the sick. There is even an Orthodox military-patriotic club here, cooperating with the Sergiyevo-Posad OMON.
Despite the fact that the metochion and its main church of the Iveron Icon of the Mother of God are relatively small, everything here is permeated with genuine, sincere Orthodox faith and warmth, which is far more important than size.
