At the 'Alt Salzburg' restaurant, or "Old Salzburg", located in the very heart of the Old Town, you can enjoy traditional Austrian cuisine and an elegant atmosphere. One of Salzburg's finest restaurants has been serving residents and visitors of the city for more than 60 years.
Since the late 1950s, there was a rustic wine bar here, and in 1971 the premises were expanded and renovated. The restaurant now consists of three spacious halls, two of which are open to non-smoking guests, while in the third you can light up after an exquisite lunch. The restaurant is housed in an old mansion that was built between 1350 and 1550 and consists of several sections.
The 'Alt Salzburg' restaurant is a family business. The kitchen here is run by Johann Kögl, who holds the title of Officier Maitre Rotisseur - roughly the equivalent of a knighthood among chefs. Johann is extremely demanding about the quality of the ingredients and adherence to recipes, so you can be sure that the dishes you taste in this restaurant will be authentically prepared and perfect in flavor.
In addition to Austrian cuisine, the menu also features some Mediterranean dishes. Guest service and the excellent wine cellar are overseen by Gerlinde Kögl, who will help you choose the most suitable wine for your meal.
