For Yaroslavl's 1000th anniversary, the beautiful Park on the Strelka was restored on the city's famous sandy spit.
In fact, it is not exactly a park - there are no groves, wooded areas, or lakes here. But they are not needed either, because on two sides of the Strelka the waves of the Volga and the Kotorosl River splash. It is they, thanks to a professional irrigation system, that help the green vegetation feel excellent on the sandy soil.
The entire park is planted with lawns and flower beds; convenient paths have also been laid here and benches have been placed for visitors to relax. There are trees here too, but they are still small, and therefore one cannot yet count on shade from them.
The central part of the Park on the Strelka is occupied by a large singing fountain. At the site of the old spring, it was decided to install a 20-meter stele, around which are several figures symbolizing different stages of Yaroslavl's history: the city's founder Prince Yaroslav the Wise, a priest, a chronicler, warriors, a woman with a child.
The park is always crowded; the residents of Yaroslavl have come to love this place and often come here to relax and socialize with friends. It is also very beautiful here in winter - skiers race along the snow-covered paths, and children happily frolic in the snow.
