The Berlin Firefighting Museum is located in the building of an active city fire station, so while viewing the exhibits, you can sometimes hear the wail of sirens and watch the mobilization of the fire brigade.
The museum is not particularly large, but it is very interesting and colorful. It is located on the third floor of the building, and to get inside, you need to climb a gloomy staircase designed to look like the entrance hall of an apartment building damaged by fire. Moreover, this installation is done very realistically and impressively, probably to remind visitors that fire is truly very frightening and dangerous.
At the Museum of the History of Firefighting, you can see old vehicles, paintings dedicated to fire and those who fight it, archival photographs and video recordings; you can even listen to old firefighters' songs here! The exhibition introduces visitors to the history of the development of firefighting and once again demonstrates the importance and heroism of the work carried out by these brave rescuers.
