There was never a residence of patriarchs in Vladimir, but as early as the 16th century the Patriarchal Garden was laid out here, where high-ranking members of the capital's clergy loved to relax.
It is located in the very center of the city, a few blocks from the Uspensky Cathedral, but most tourists do not even suspect it exists, because this beautiful park is hidden in a ravine descending toward the Klyazma in picturesque terraces.
Immediately after the Great Patriotic War, the Patriarchal Garden became the main station for young naturalists, who planted literally every meter of it with useful and ornamental plants. Here shaped flower beds exude delicate aromas and delight the eye with bright colors, while strawberries and currants grow between them. Linden and birch trees alternate with lilac bushes and fruit trees - apple, cherry, and plum trees. The garden also has many unique, rare, and exotic plants for this area, as well as culinary and medicinal herbs and samples of flora from neighboring countries.
The picturesque descent to the river is designed as a long gentle staircase, along which there are neat platforms with benches, gazebos, a multi-jet fountain, and a small artificial pond. From the top of the staircase, a beautiful panorama of the river and the surrounding area opens up.
