On the first floor of Palazzo Gherardesca, the Italian restaurant 'Il Palagio' opened its doors. A palace setting sets high standards, so the interiors of the establishment are just as refined as the dishes from the chef - the famous Vito Mollica.
Inside, it is amazingly beautiful: large crystal chandeliers sparkle beneath the vaulted ceilings, and tables covered with snow-white tablecloths are arranged on the "checkerboard" floor. The restaurant is part of the hotel, so you can have not only dinner there, but breakfast as well. In the morning, 'Il Palagio' is open from 7 to 11, and afterward - only in the evening - from 19 to 23.
The open terrace is very popular with visitors, where you can enjoy a delicious meal while basking in the warm rays of the sun. Gourmets should definitely try the local foie gras saute with fruit and nuts, as well as the cream soup with beans and mushrooms.
Excellent meat and fish dishes are also served here, for example, pasta with marinated red shrimp and squid, cod baked in salt, or lamb with herbs and onion cream. And for dessert, caramel mousse or panettone - a traditional Italian cake that is usually baked for Christmas.
The average bill for two (a 4-course menu and wine) is 130 euros. Yes, it's not cheap, but this restaurant has been awarded a Michelin star, so the dishes here are simply exquisite!
