Koh Sirey Temple is located on the small island of Sirey, which is separated from its big neighbor Phuket by a narrow strait that can be crossed by bridge. The temple stands on a hill, so it can be seen from afar. The площадки at the top of the hill offer wonderful views of the southeastern coast of Phuket.
Koh Sirey is an amazing place. If you visit it on a weekday, the building will seem abandoned to you: there are almost never any people here. However, in fact the temple is very much alive, and there really is plenty to see in it. You will be greeted by a caretaker who collects modest donations and offers to take a photo or pay respect to the Buddha statue by presenting fragrant candles and lotus flowers.
The entrance to the temple is guarded by painted dragons, and inside you can see a large statue of the reclining golden Buddha, who is preparing to pass into nirvana. There are also many other statues here (mostly of Buddha as well) and religious objects, while the walls are decorated with paintings from the lives of various deities.
Lush greenery flourishes around the temple, creating an effect of being “lost in the jungle.” Here you can calmly wander and reflect on the meaning of life or simply rest and relax.
