The monkeys in Phuket have taken a liking to the highest point of the island. The mountain, which is actually called To Sae, is for obvious reasons referred to by almost everyone as Monkey Mountain.
You can get to the top by vehicle, but most people go up on foot to look around or grab a bite at the restaurant along the way. At the foot of the mountain, take note of the beautiful Buddhist temple.
You will not have to look for the monkeys for long - they will come to you themselves. There are a lot of them here; you will see them playing, climbing trees, fighting, sleeping - in short, going about their usual monkey business.
It is advisable to stock up beforehand on treats like bananas or nuts so as not to disappoint the monkeys. Also try to hide away valuables and jewelry, because the monkeys traditionally collect souvenirs taken from tourists from different countries around the world. And do not try to pet the animals, because although they look cute, they are still wild and can potentially bite.
Besides being home to a little monkey empire, the hill is notable for its excellent viewpoint, which offers a wonderful view of Phuket Town and the chance to admire from afar the Buddha statue located by Khao Rang Temple.
