According to one urban legend, the name Soho came from the abbreviation — South of Hollywood Road — “south of Hollywood Road”.
Soho is the trendiest district in Hong Kong, located in the Central and Western district. Mostly expats and children of wealthy parents have fun here. In addition, it is believed that this area has the largest number of all kinds of nightlife venues: restaurants with every cuisine in the world, bars, art galleries, designer showrooms, and antique shops. Presumably, Soho emerged in 1996, and before that it was an ordinary residential neighborhood where mostly retirees lived.
At present, all the houses in Soho in Hong Kong are buildings whose ground floors are occupied by entertainment venues. The rest are intended for residential rentals.
One of the easiest ways to get to Soho is via the longest escalator in the world, to which, it is believed, the district owes its appearance. It was built in 1993 and probably stimulated the development of this part of the city.
