The Istanbul Archaeological Museum (Turkish: İstanbul Arkeoloji Müzesi) is located in Istanbul, the capital during the Ottoman era. The complex is situated next to Gulhane Park and Topkapi Palace, consists of three museums — the main building, the Museum of the Ancient Orient, and the Tiled Pavilion — and contains more than a million exhibits from various eras. The museum was founded at the end of the 19th century on the initiative of the prominent Turkish painter and archaeologist Osman Hamdi Bey. Part of the collection had previously been kept in the Church of St. Irene. Construction of the main building in the classical style began in 1881 based on the design of the Franco-Turkish architect Alexander Vallaury and was fully completed in 1902. The museum opened on June 13, 1891. In 1903 and 1907, the right and left wings were added, giving the building its current appearance. The building that is now occupied by the Museum of the Ancient Orient originally housed the School of Fine Arts.

Gulhane Park is located in the Sultanahmet district and adjoins the Istanbul Archaeological Museum and Topkapi Palace. During the Ottoman Empire, Gulhane served as a garden where roses were grown for the sultan's palace. That is where the park's name comes from, as Gulhane literally translates as "court of roses."

Unfortunately, the fire of 1863 did not spare this beautiful place. It was followed by years of oblivion and slow desolation. But at the beginning of the 21st century, the situation changed - the park was restored, renovated, and regained its former grandeur and beauty.

With its beautiful flower beds, gazebos coyly hidden in the greenery, terraces with amazing views, cozy cafes, and fountains, Gulhane offers visitors everything they need for a calm and peaceful отдых away from the noise and bustle of the metropolis.

It is especially pleasant to take shelter in the park during the midday heat in summer - in the shade of elms, plane trees, and oaks. In autumn, the park lives in anticipation of winter: the air is clean, and the yellowing trees are solemnly sad. In spring, meanwhile, the entire park is practically one continuous multicolored blanket – the tulips are in bloom! Perhaps this is the best time for photo sessions in Gulhane Park :)
