The Tibidabo Funicular, or Tibidabo funicular (Spanish: Funicular del Tibidabo), is a funicular in the city of Barcelona, Catalonia. It has an area of 70 000 m2 and is the oldest amusement park in Spain, the second built in Europe, and one of the oldest in the world.

The Temple of the Sacred Heart (Catalan: Temple Expiatori del Sagrat Cor, Spanish: Basilica Templo Expiatorio del Sagrado Corazón de Jesús) is a church and minor basilica in Barcelona. The church is located on Mount Tibidabo. It was built according to the design of the architect Enric Sagnier, whose son — Josep Maria Sagnier i Vidal — completed the construction. The construction of the church, dedicated to the Sacred Heart, lasted from 1902 to 1961.On 29 September 1961, Pope John XXIII granted the Temple of the Sacred Heart the status of a Minor Papal Basilica (Latin: Basilica minor)[1].

In 1987, the municipality of Barcelona announced a competition for the construction of a new TV tower. Many specialists took part in the tender, but the Englishman Norman Foster won. He presented to the jury a design for a tower 288 meters high, which for those times was a very bold and ambitious proposal. However, Foster claimed that such a structure was quite feasible from a technical point of view and promised to become a new symbol and adornment of Barcelona.

And that is exactly what happened: 5 years later, just in time for the opening of the Olympics, the Torre del Collserola TV tower was solemnly presented. It is important to note that, besides its own very impressive size, it is also located on Mount Tibidabo, so the total height amounted to 560 meters!
