On the grounds of Kronvalda Park there is one monumental structure that you simply cannot pass by without getting to know it better. This is the Riga Congress Hall, opened in 1982, back in the Soviet era, when size and grandeur were priority characteristics of architecture.
Originally, the building was created for pompous party meetings, but now various concerts, congresses, seminars, theatrical performances, and exhibitions are held here. In 1988, the Popular Front was approved სწორედ here, and later the independence of Latvia was proclaimed. In modern times, such significant events as the meeting of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the celebration of Riga's 800th anniversary, and others were held here. The multifunctionality and versatility of the Congress Hall have made it one of the most popular places for all kinds of mass events.
Once inside, you will be amazed by the scale of the building: the lobby is 14 meters high, there are three spacious halls, one of which is the largest concert hall in Riga, and there are also several auditoriums. A library with a collection of 60 thousand publications in different languages is also located here.
The interior finishing is made of harmoniously combined oak, marble, and granite. The Hall has many windows overlooking the park, which greatly enlivens the strictness and solemnity of the building.
