The North Market, the oldest in Amsterdam, began operating in 1627. Today, just as several centuries ago, traders and farmers come here. Life bustles here every day, and there is never any free space.
Regular and occasional buyers can choose any goods to suit their taste, and at the same time pick up something completely unnecessary but eye-catching. The Dutch know how to trade; even the famous Eastern bazaars look less grand against their backdrop. The market has no particular specialization; everything is sold and bought here - the spirit of free trade hangs in the air all around.
The North Market is located in the Jordaan district, next to the Prinsengracht canal. Technically, it can be divided into a goods market and an agricultural market. Local farmers offer exclusively organic products, and this has made the market especially popular. At the goods market, you can spend hours browsing various antiques, clothing, books, handicrafts by local artisans, and authentic Dutch souvenirs.
It is impossible to leave here without making a purchase, and you simply do not want to leave. This place is no less historic than Amsterdam's museums and architecture.
