You can find many amazing places in Amsterdam. In the city center, alongside modern buildings, there are also historic buildings, and this colorful contrast cannot go unnoticed - it gives the capital of the Netherlands a special charm, making it extremely attractive.
In one of these buildings, the so-called canal house, built back in the 17th century on the Prinsengracht canal, there is the unique Smoking Pipe Museum – a place you simply cannot just walk past. The building itself already inspires you to make sure to take a photo next to it. But the museum exhibits inspire even greater delight.
This is one of the largest collections of smoking pipes in the world; there is practically everything humanity has ever invented for smoking tobacco here – from the pre-Columbian era right up to our own time. 3000 items are on permanent display, and there are about 20000 in total.
And it all started in 1969, with a small private collection belonging to a certain Don Duco. At first, small exhibitions were organized; later - in 1982, the museum settled in Leiden, and since 1995 - it moved to Amsterdam.
By the way, this is the only museum in the world where you can smoke!
