This beautiful greenhouse was built from the design of architect Josep Amargos in 1888, when the World's Fair was taking place in Barcelona. Unique plants were brought here from all corners of the globe. That was also when fountains and waterfalls appeared in the greenhouse.
The result was a true tropical paradise that you can visit at any time of year. Visitors especially appreciate the chance to come here in winter, when the weather outside is bad and cold. And after a walk among unique flowers and plants, you can sit in a cozy cafe.
What is remarkable is that here you can not only stroll around and admire everything, but also buy something for your home: trees, flowers, pots, soil, fertilizers, and various gardening tools. Like any other Barcelona attraction, the greenhouse also offers all kinds of souvenirs.
If you came here with small children, you can leave them for a while in the children's area. It is made in the form of a wooden house with its own kitchen and sandbox. And everything needed for making sand pies (buckets, little shovels, and rakes) is provided.
The «Hivernacle» greenhouse is often approached by glossy magazine editors and representatives of the fashion industry to arrange a photo shoot here, hold a fashion show, or organize an exhibition. So don't be surprised if, while strolling through the garden, you suddenly come across designer sneakers hanging from a palm tree. :)
