HEMA - is the largest retail chain selling all kinds of goods for home and family. Furniture, interior items, clothing, tableware, groceries, and ready-made food. In general, everything your heart desires, from a ballpoint pen to spare parts and building materials. Statistics claim that every third person in Holland wears underwear from HEMA. This chain gained wide popularity among the masses thanks to low prices for high-quality goods and a huge selection of products.
The history of the HEMA chain began in 1926 with fixed-price stores that sold useful little things for the home, and all goods cost 10, 25, and 50 cents. However, the constantly growing assortment and the economic situation after World War II forced the store to change its pricing policy.
By the way, every year on May 4, HEMA stores pay tribute to the many Jewish employees of the chain who were shot by the Nazis during the war - a memorial wreath is laid in their honor at the head office.
Since the late 1950s, HEMA introduced the Netherlands to the concept of franchising, and now the chain has more than 500 department stores in the Benelux countries, France, and Germany.
