Cafe «Gogol-Mogol» is one of the most authentic venues in Odessa. It would be more accurate to call this place an art cafe, as the interior and atmosphere in it are thought out down to the smallest detail (for example, tea is served with a small box containing four different types of sugar).
According to those who visit «Gogol-Mogol» regularly, with each visit there seem to be more and more things in the hall, and looking at every detail is a very engaging activity. Although the management says that some exhibits travel to different cities, and therefore the interior needs to be constantly updated :)
You can come here via Gogol Street — the cafe is located directly opposite house number 9, where the great writer lived. They say that there was already a little restaurant here during his lifetime, and therefore the creators of «Gogol-Mogol» decided to restore the place's authenticity by recreating a Gogolian interior.
Prices here are not particularly low for Odessa, but to a person who has come, for example, from Moscow, they will seem standard.
Just between us: this place is best in the evening, by the soft candlelight. And besides original dishes, they offer an excellent wine list here!
