Cordusio Square is located practically in the very center of Milan, though in a center that is more business than tourist-oriented. It is located in the so-called "Banking Quadrilateral," where such major financial institutions as UniCredit Bank, Barclay, and Intesa Sanpaolo are based. The fourth financial institution on this list is one of the largest insurance companies of the Old World - Assicurazioni Generali.
All these organizations are housed in palaces whose origins date back to the turn of the XIX-XX centuries. In the years since their construction, Palazzo della Posta, Palazzo della Assicurazioni Generali, and Palazzo del Credito Italiano have been excellently preserved.
Besides the palaces, Cordusio Square is also notable for the monument to the iconic Italian classic of the XVIII century, Giuseppe Parini. His sculpture was created by architect Luca Beltrami.
And finally, we would like to tell you how this square got such a sonorous name. The basis for the name was two Italian words that sound like "Cors" and "Ducis." Joined together, they translate as "Court of Dukes." In the V-VI centuries, this was the place of judgment for the various estates that existed in Italy at that time.
