Várfok Gallery is one of the very first private galleries to open in Budapest. It is located not far from Moscow Square, on Várfok Street, from which it takes its name. It was opened in 1990 by Károly Szalóky. Since then, it has been a permanent home for contemporary art.
The gallery has several halls located along Várfok Street. They exhibit works by contemporary artists, both well-known and emerging. For them, this is an opportunity not only to make a name for themselves and present their work to the public, but also to reach the international level.
The artists presented here, as they themselves say, belong to the second generation of the Hungarian neo-avant-garde. Some exhibitions are joint projects by Hungarian, Romanian, and Polish authors. In addition to visual images, the gallery actively uses sound and light. This makes it possible to enrich perception and fully immerse yourself in the atmosphere conceived by the author.
