If you still have some free time left after visiting Odessa's main attractions, there is every reason to stop by the marine terminal. The atmosphere here is extremely authentic: liners, cargo ships, sea breeze… In addition, the open-air anchor museum is located here. Its exhibition is not far from the Potemkin Stairs, where virtually all tourists stroll during their stay in Odessa.
Of course, the anchor exhibition can hardly be called a museum. At the Marine Terminal, it occupies an area of just a few square meters. However, they are quite fascinating to study and examine.
Matrosov anchor, grapnel anchor, three-, four-, and five-fluke anchors… In total, there are 16 rare exhibits. Next to each one are special plaques where you can read the history of these unusual yet vital items for sailors. Here you can also trace the evolution of anchors: how they were made at the beginning of their historical development, and what they look like today.
