The House of Arts and Letters opened in Athens at the end of 2010 as a center for supporting and developing contemporary Greek art. Moreover, it attracted the interest of the international community not only with its прекрасным collection, but even with the external appearance of the building.
Initially, the Onassis Foundation, which financed this project, set itself the goal of creating a masterpiece of contemporary architecture that would adorn the city and become its new landmark. 66 leading architects from all over the world submitted their projects to the competition. The best was the proposal by the French Architecture Studio: a simple rectangular silhouette with an unusual facade finish made of thin white marble beams. At the same time, the interior spaces of this building seem to be filled with air and light.
On the 7 floors of the House of Arts and Letters there are two stages, several exhibition and lecture halls, numerous open spaces, a bar and a restaurant, as well as the huge Liquid Sky installation.
Of course, the House of Arts and Letters is interesting not only from an architectural point of view. Concerts, exhibitions, and presentations are held here every day — in short, a full range of events related to theater, dance, music, visual arts, and the written word. Educational programs for children and adults occupy a special place.
