The Lamb and Flag pub is the oldest in Covent Garden, and possibly in all of London. This establishment received its license to sell alcohol back in 1623! Since then, this place has been extremely, extremely popular with those who enjoy having a good time.
Many years ago, fistfights were held here, and the pub had the unofficial name "The Bucket of Blood," while in the evenings suspicious characters often wandered around the area. But all that is in the past; now it is quite peaceful here, and if you do have to struggle, it is only to push your way to the bar.
The interior of "Lamb and Flag" is designed in the spirit of good old English traditions - wooden beams, pine floorboards, a fireplace. The two-story premises are often quite crowded and smoky, so when the weather is nice outside, the crowd of visitors often moves out into the courtyard.
There is a chance that you will not be able to have a tasty lunch or dinner here, because the kitchen in establishments like this is far from always open - it is believed that food is not the main thing in pubs. But one thing you will certainly never be denied is a pint or two of first-rate English ale!
