This enormous chrome sculpture, which looks like a real Tyrannosaurus skeleton, stands on the bank of the Seine. The dimensions of this monster are 3*6 meters. And although anthropologists claim that real Tyrannosaurs were much larger, this statue still looks quite intimidating.
Rex was created by the contemporary world-famous artist Philippe Pasqua. He made it by commission from one of the companies that organizes sightseeing tours on the Seine. In this way, the clients decided to diversify their program for vacationers. Curiously, in Paris this sculpture was immediately nicknamed the monument to the mother-in-law. Perhaps that is exactly the legend the guides tell their groups during boat trips. ;)
But why a Tyrannosaurus? Why not King Kong, aliens, or cartoon characters? In fact, it could have been anything at all, because the artist's main task, as Pasqua himself says, is to 'disturb people's minds'. In that case, the goal has been achieved 100%! Every self-respecting photographer now tries to find a good angle in which the Tyrannosaurus is trying to 'eat' the Eiffel Tower or 'attack' passing tourists. Who knows, perhaps you will come up with a new idea for photos with Rex!
