This monument is dedicated to the French writer Marcel Aymé, who created many humorous short stories, novels, novellas, and even fairy tales. One of his works is even called “The Man Who Could Walk Through Walls”.
It tells the story of an ordinary accountant who possessed an unusual gift – passing through any obstacles. At first, of course, he was confused and did not know what to do with it, but then he quickly found a use for his abilities. He even began visiting his beloved, who was married to a very jealous man who kept her locked away. But one day... However, let us not reveal all the secrets of the plot, otherwise you will not be interested in reading it. The story is short, it will take you very little time, but believe me, it is worth it!
The monument to this character was installed by the actor Jean Marais, who became famous throughout the world for the role of Fantomas. He was a good friend of the writer Marcel Aymé. The sculpture turned out to be quite unusual: a man seems to be “emerging” from the wall, and only some parts of his body are visible.
If you look closely, you can notice that the left hand of the monument has been polished to a shine. All tourists try to “shake hands” with the hero and make a wish.
But those who know the true meaning of this monument do not hurry to shake hands. Because in fact, it symbolizes the unpredictability of our life. No one knows what awaits us next. And by touching the hand of the monument, you may bring unexpected events closer, and according to the legend, not necessarily good ones.
