Updated for 2026: Odesa’s seafront remains one of the city’s best places for a long walk. Expect a lively mix of walkers, runners, cyclists, and beachgoers, especially in warm weather, and leave a little extra time to stop for the views.
Odesa’s Health Trail is a scenic route stretching for more than 5 kilometers. It runs along the sea, and all along it you’ll see people walking, running, cycling, rollerblading, skateboarding, and getting around however they like.
Do you know what terrenkur is? It’s an old term for therapeutic walking in the fresh air along a designated route. In Crimea, near Yalta, special walking paths were once laid out for Emperor Nicholas II. One of them, the Tsar’s Path, still exists today, where the last Romanov ruler once walked in the shade and looked out over the sea.
The Health Trail in Odesa, unlike the Tsar’s Path, is completely open to everyone. And the sea views here are just as memorable. Locals who enjoy an active lifestyle come here almost year-round. Marathons and half marathons are often held on the trail, and many of them welcome anyone who wants to join.
In recent years, vehicles that pollute the air with exhaust have been banned from the trail. But if you’d still like a ride, you can use the electric shuttle that runs from Arkadia Beach to Lanzheron Beach and back.
By the way, the Health Trail is part of a popular route for a walk around Odessa. You can also use one of several guidebooks to the city:
