If you are planning to visit CosmoCaixa, keep in mind that everywhere you go you will be surrounded by crowds of schoolchildren, who are regularly brought to this museum on field trips. And indeed, why explain theory and try to simplify everything when you can bring children to a place where they can see everything with their own eyes.
In this huge museum covering about 5000 sq.m, you can not only look at the exhibits, but also touch them with your hands and even experiment with them. For this purpose there is a special hall here called "Touch! Touch!".
Among the exhibits, there are not just objects or boring display stands, but live birds, lizards, fish, insects, etc. There is also a planetarium here where you can watch how our Universe developed.
The CosmoCaixa Science Museum hosts both permanent and temporary exhibitions. Among the main ones is a recreation of the Amazon tropical forest with its entire ecosystem, even including tropical downpours and living inhabitants! They are, of course, behind glass, but that is actually reassuring, because many of them are so poisonous that the slightest touch is enough to be fatal!
The museum has five floors in total. They are connected by a huge spiral staircase with the Tree of Life instead of a central axis. Interestingly, the museum building is a former shelter for the blind, which was built in Barcelona in the XX century. Today it is one of the most modern and fascinating museums in Europe.
