Yak Chapel is the jewel of the architectural ensemble of Vajdahunyad Castle in Budapest. In fact, this entire complex of buildings in Városliget Park is a modern construction, built from 1896 to 1908 as part of the celebration of the millennium of Hungary. Back then, the so-called "Historical Pavilion" was erected here to showcase the most significant architectural landmarks of Hungary. At first, all this beauty was created from wood, but later the townspeople grew so fond of these structures that it was decided to rebuild them in stone.
Yak Chapel is an exact copy of the chapel of the same name of the Benedictine monks, located in the town of Yak, on the Austro-Hungarian border. The main facade of the church is adorned with a statue of Jesus Christ surrounded by the twelve apostles, at whose feet stone lions are placed.
