This house can confidently be called one of the best examples of the Art Nouveau style in Paris. Its picturesque facade is so unusual that you can look at it for hours. It's even hard to believe that the most ordinary people live in this house, and that it isn't some kind of museum.

The decoration of House No. 29 on Avenue Rapp is incredibly rich in sculptural elements: there are figures of Adam and Eve, Gothic images, and mythological animals. Moreover, each of them has its own allegorical meaning. For example, the heads of bulls symbolize the power of the earth, while the salamander figurines adorning the door protect the house from fire. Perhaps it is precisely thanks to these talismans that the house was not damaged during the two world wars. Yes indeed, it was built back in 1901! Its design was created by architect Jules Lavirotte in tandem with sculptor Jean-Baptiste Larrive. The result of their joint work impressed the Paris authorities so much that they were awarded first prize in the competition for the best facade.

According to legend, the bust of the woman that decorates the entrance above the doorway was made in the likeness of the architect's wife. By the way, many elements of the facade are quite erotic. The door alone is enough, in which many saw the outline of a male organ. They say that Salvador Dali, upon seeing this house, called it "a continuing erotic ecstasy." Though, to each their own ;)
