There are two branches of this department store in Rome. The main one is located on Piazza Fiume, the second opened in Galleria Alberto Sordi.

The history of this chain began in 1865, when the first store was opened in Milan. By 1917, it was already a chain of department stores throughout Italy. Later it would be bought by the Borletti family, who asked the poet Gabriele D’Annunzio to come up with a new name. He proposed “la Rinascente”, which means “reborn”.

It was in this very department store that items first went on sale that would forever change the lifestyle of Italians: from the daring miniskirt to the wonder of that time - the refrigerator. And, by the way, it was at this time that the “Compasso d’Oro” (“Golden Compass”) award appeared, recognizing those who create practical household items without forgetting about aesthetics and design.

Today “La Rinascente” – is one of the most expensive department stores in Italy. It features more than 200 well-known brands, ranging from clothing and cosmetics to furniture and interior items. On the first floors there are grocery stores and cafes. Prices there are above average, but the assortment is impressive for its selection of rare delicacies.
