This church is considered one of the oldest in Barcelona. It was built back in the 9th century and named in honor of the martyrs Pastor and Just.
Later, at the end of the 16th century, when the church built in the Romanesque style was reconstructed, a Gothic facade and bell tower appeared. The authors of this “transformation” project were Joan Granja and Joan Safon.
At the end of the 19th century, Sants Just i Pastor was transformed in the Neo-Gothic style; however, this did not have a particularly noticeable effect on the facade – the church has always been considered rather simple and modest.
The interior spaces of the church also do not shine with wealth and pomp, which in turn gives one of the oldest Romanesque churches in Barcelona an atmosphere of antiquity and reverence.
However, some noteworthy works by artists are worth highlighting. In the Chapel of Saint Felix there is an altar bearing images of saints by Pedro Nunez. In addition, the painting “The Passion of Christ,” also placed on the altar, is of interest.
