This market appeared in Paris more than 130 years ago, but life still truly bustles here every day. On the stalls you can see a wide variety of antique knick-knacks, old furniture, records, books, clocks, and even clothes. And although the name of this market literally translates as "fleas," it is practically impossible to explore it thoughtfully in a whole day. If you add together the length of all its aisles, you get something like 17 kilometers!
The market's territory is so vast that it has formed a kind of "departments" - mini-bazaars of different specializations. The most popular of them are Dauphine, Antica, Biron, and Malik. Thus, Dauphine offers buyers antique furniture and interior details from the Napoleonic era. In Malik you can find clothes in a "retro" style or even actual belongings of the great-great-great-grandmothers of today's Parisians. Antica is known for its porcelain, paintings, and tapestries, while Biron is the place to go for those interested in wooden crafts and furniture from the eras of Louis XV and XVI.
To take a short break from this retro shopping, you can drop into one of the many cafes or little restaurants.
However, even if you are not a fan of all these vintage trinkets, it is still worth coming here to listen to street musicians. Sometimes they put on real concerts here!
