A walk along the southern wall of Jerusalem begins at the Tower of David. Walking ahead, you will see the remains of the Kishle - the buildings of the Ottoman city police. Next, an excellent view of Mishkenot Shaananim awaits you. The district that was still a slum some 50 years ago is now considered one of the most prestigious in the city. The Armenian Quarter is closed to visitors of other nationalities, so a walk along the Jerusalem wall is an excellent way to get acquainted with it at least from the outside. You will also come across the Dormition Monastery, where you can see the tomb of King David and the Upper Room where the Last Supper took place. Walking farther on, you will find yourself at Zion Gate, which still bears the dents left on it from the War of Independence of 1947-1949. And this walk ends near the Jewish Quarter, not far from the Western Wall.
