Piazza del Duomo is the very heart of Milan, surrounded by first-class shops, cinemas and, of course, the city's most famous landmarks. One of them, Duomo, is in fact what gave the square its name.
Another name for this grand structure is the Cathedral of Santa Maria Nascente, which translates as the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary. It is one of the world's most famous long-term construction projects - the building of the temple continued for more than six centuries! But, agree, the result turned out so stunning that it was worth the wait :) You can learn more about this amazing structure by downloading the Duomo audio guide.
Another, no less famous attraction of this square is the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, a huge shopping arcade renowned for its unique architecture and wonderful selection of boutiques from the world's most famous brands.
Directly opposite the gallery stands the Royal Palace of Milan. And on Piazza del Duomo itself rises a monument to the unifier of the Italian state - King Vittorio Emanuele II.
In short, we are sure that whatever brings you to Milan - shopping, leisure or a business trip - it is hardly possible to overlook Piazza del Duomo and the whole host of attractions surrounding it!
