So many things once stood on the site of the present-day Hybernia Theatre building! In the 14th century, a Benedictine monastery stood here. In the 17th century, its building was used by Irish Franciscan monks. Another hundred years later, this area was given over to the needs of the Czech army, and later still it became the location of the customs center and tax service.
In 2006, the fate of this by then nearly ruined building attracted the interest of the fairly well-known Prague theater project Hybernia. The new owners carried out an enormous reconstruction, turning the historic building into a theater.
For those who decide to attend one of the performances at Hybernia, we recommend first taking a close look at the playbill. The program of this theater's productions is quite diverse. The stage may host both classical works by Shakespeare and amateur school performances. To avoid misunderstandings and disappointment, choose carefully where you want to go, and when buying tickets, be sure to consult the cashier about your decision.
