The Museum of Telephony in Budapest is quite small in size – it has only two halls. The exhibition presents the history of the development of telephone communication in Hungary over the last 120 years.
One of the most popular exhibits is an old automatic telephone exchange that operated in the Hungarian capital until 1985. To the delight of interested visitors, the museum staff gladly turns it on, demonstrating how it works.
Some of the exhibits at the Museum of Telephony are interactive, and during the tour you can take a close look at an old switchboard, exchange faxes with other visitors, and also talk on a telephone set from the beginning of the century before last. All this makes the Museum of Telephony especially interesting for children. However, adults who have visited it do not remain indifferent either.
