Updated for 2026: Amsterdam's Red Light District is still lively, but it is more tightly managed than it used to be, so expect crowd-control measures, advance booking options, and a stronger emphasis on respectful behavior after dark.
Where it is: right in the heart of De Wallen, on Oudezijds Achterburgwal 106-108. From Amsterdam Central Station, it is about a 10 to 15 minute walk through the old center.
How to get in: tickets are usually available online through the official Casa Rosso website and at the door, and shows run every evening. Nearby you will also find the Erotic Museum, the Sex Museum, and the medieval Oude Kerk, so it is easy to turn this into a themed half-evening out.
Good to know: the Red Light District is one of Amsterdam's oldest neighborhoods, and it has strict etiquette. Never photograph people in the windows, and keep things calm and respectful for residents and workers alike.
Casa Rosso is easy to spot thanks to the playful pink elephant above the entrance in Amsterdam's Red Light District. This long-running adult theater stages live erotic performances and has become one of the area's best-known nightlife stops.
The program is usually built around a series of short acts, mixing dance, acrobatics, striptease, and explicit stage performance. Whether you find it entertaining or underwhelming will depend a lot on your expectations, so it is best approached as a Red Light District curiosity rather than a polished theatrical production.

Lines often build outside Casa Rosso in the evening, especially when the district is busy. Once inside, you watch the show as it moves through its lineup of acts, and your ticket generally covers the full performance.
Not far from Casa Rosso is the Erotic Museum, which makes an easy add-on for a themed night in the Dutch capital. If you want to keep going, you can also stop by the sex museum. And if you are in the mood for a more offbeat evening, try our Forbidden Amsterdam route for coffeeshops, the Hash, Marijuana & Hemp Museum, and other famously taboo corners of the city.
