Osteria Antico Giardinetto is a small family restaurant famous for its cozy and friendly atmosphere. A husband and wife work here: Virgilio is the chef of this restaurant, and Larisa is the waitress who gladly chats with all the visitors and helps with ordering. On top of that, she is Russian, and if you do not know Italian, that is not a problem.
The choice of dishes here is not very wide, but everything that is prepared is very tasty and home-style. Visitors especially praise the seafood risotto, mussels, marinated tuna, and noodles with scallops and artichokes. The owners do not hide the fact that they buy seafood every morning at the nearby market - Rialto - it is only 5 minutes from here.
And the desserts here are made exclusively by hand. Be sure to try the tiramisu, chocolate mousse, and creamy pudding with chocolate glaze, strawberries, or caramel.
By the way, if you feel like seeing how Virgilio cooks or asking for the recipe of a dish you liked, you will not be refused.
There are only 6 tables inside the restaurant, although in summer you can also sit in the patio. To get here, you will have to walk along one of the narrowest streets in Venice. Not long ago, literally everything here was blocked off because of the filming of the movie "The Tourist" starring Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie.
