The name of this street comes from the Royal Post Office building, opened on Puerta del Sol in the second half of the 18th century. It was along Calle de Postas that the mail coaches set out from the Spanish capital to different corners of the country. If you take a closer look at the house number plaques, you will notice that they depict a mail carriage dashing along.
One of the main attractions of this street is the Posada del Peine hotel, so interesting that it deserves a story of its own. There are also plenty of all kinds of old shops here.
