The current DOX Center for Contemporary Art (which translates as "opinion," "position") emerged on the site of a warehouse where metal structures had previously been stored. In 2008, after a colossal reconstruction under the patronage of local architect Ivan Kroupa, this musty warehouse became a true cluster of contemporary art in the Czech Republic.
Now, every year, this विशाल hangar with an area of 6000 sq.m. brings together under its roof more than 2500 contemporary art exhibitions on a wide variety of themes.
The idea for opening and subsequently developing this art space belongs to the Czech architect Leoš Válka, who, after 15 years of living in Australia and numerous travels around the world, decided to bring his vision of contemporary art to his hometown.
Today, the DOX Center is very popular not only among visitors, but also among the creators of contemporary art masterpieces themselves. DOX pays a great deal of attention to young artists, organizing all kinds of competitions, by winning which they get the opportunity to hold their own exhibitions at the center.
