A sculptural composition consisting of three angels who, according to the biblical story, came to visit Abraham to announce the miraculous birth of his son, was installed on the "Strelka" in front of Uspensky Cathedral in Yaroslavl in 1995.
The authors of "Trinity" were the sculptor Mukhin and the architect Bobovich. It is said that Mukhin originally created this composition for Japan, but for some reason the monument never left for the Land of the Rising Sun. Then the sculptor предложил администрации Yaroslavl оставить монумент в родном городе, те согласились.
However, after the ceremonial unveiling of the new monument, the local media erupted in angry criticism, and the public, to put it mildly, did not appreciate the creators' efforts. People began calling the angels "humanoids" because of the strange shape of their heads.
Over time, a wedding tradition appeared among the townspeople: to throw coins into the bowl placed in front of the angels. A direct hit is considered a sure sign of good luck.
Of course, this causes a storm of indignation among the clergy, who call it sacrilege and a pagan ritual. However, no special measures were taken in connection with this; it was simply left "on the conscience" of the townspeople themselves.
