Bauhaus Center is dedicated to the architectural style that reached its highest development in Tel Aviv and became the visual face of this city. This style is also called international, as it is devoid of cultural and historical shades; it is concise, functional, and completely universal.
For example, if you take the first Bauhaus building you come across in Tel Aviv and place it on the streets of London, Helsinki, or Tokyo, it would look absolutely natural and modern there. At the same time, it is completely impossible to say that this style is unattractive or boring: its minimalism and clear lines contain a special beauty and elegance.
The Bauhaus Center museum will tell its visitors about the origins of the International Style school, about its development in Israel and especially in Tel Aviv. The central districts of Tel Aviv are called the White City, because there are more than 4,000 white Bauhaus buildings here.
UNESCO recognized the White City as a World Cultural Heritage Site because of such an abundance of original architecture from the early 20th century. At the Bauhaus Center, you can take a fascinating tour of the White City, during which the guide will tell you about the history of the city itself, its style, and its outstanding residents. In the museum itself, you can see an exhibition of paintings and photographs related to the features of Tel Aviv architecture and buy books and booklets on the same subject.
