The symbolic Gate of Faith was created in 1973-1975 by the talented sculptor Daniel Kafri from Galilean stone quarried in Kfar Yarka. This white-stone modernist sculpture is located in Abrasha Park, on the summit of the Hill of Rejoicing - the highest point in Jaffa. From a distance, the Gate of Faith may seem like an ordinary stone sculpture, but as you come closer, you will realize that it is something more.
The Gate consists of two four-meter pillars with a stone beam of the same size set on top. The stone carving depicts three scenes dedicated to different periods and figures in the biblical history of Israel.
On one of the pillars you can see Abraham sacrificing Isaac. The second pillar symbolizes Jacob's prophetic dream, in which he was promised the Land of Israel. The capture of Jericho by Jewish troops is shown at the very top, in the form of a horizontal scene in which you can make out clergymen - kohanim - with swords and the Ark of the Covenant.
For your most cherished wish to come true, you need to walk around the Gate of Faith from the left side and touch it with your eyes closed. After this procedure, you can open your eyes and enjoy the wonderful views of ancient and beautiful Jaffa.
