In Jaffa, one of the oldest cities in the world, you can find quite original examples of contemporary art that provide a nice contrast to the old-world atmosphere. In Kikar Kedumin Square, you will surely be intrigued by an unusual sculptural composition designed in the form of a fountain. This is the so-called Zodiac Fountain - all twelve zodiac signs are depicted in stone in it.
The authors of the project, sculptors Varda Givoli and Ilan Gelber, gave their creation a humorous touch. Funny mythological figures are arranged along the edge of the semicircular fountain. This small sculptural masterpiece was erected quite recently - in 2011. Nevertheless, the fountain has already managed to become an attractive sight of Tel Aviv. The small and charming Zodiac Fountain looks very pleasant, and you can relax next to it, sitting under the cool water spray on a hot sunny day.
It was soon noticed that the fountain possesses "magical" power, and if you touch your zodiac sign and toss a coin into the water, any wish you make will certainly come true. And if you take into account that long, long ago there used to be a well on this spot which, according to legends, was not ordinary but magical, it becomes clear why the stream of coins into the fountain never runs dry.
